Serenity: The Blog Promotion
Observe how quickly bloggers turn into shills when free stuff is offered. In this case, Serenity is offering free screenings of their movie to bloggers (you can watch a trailer on your TiVo box as I did with the fiancee this weekend.
I didn't get the chance to watch Firefly on Fox, but I heard good things about it, and the movie sounds promising. So the screening will be down at Ronnie's tomorrow night - and this post is a prerequisite to get in - though it doesn't guarantee a seat - which I find very strange. If I went and didn't get a seat - I'd probably come out and trash the PR company doing the work.
But maybe they're afraid of people signing up and not showing. Probably means they overbook like airlines. The synopsis is below (another requirement)
One very cool thing is they let you access the artwork to post on your blog, which I (try to)do below. This is very cool - giving us access to the artwork. Truth is, if I like the film, this would be a pretty cool way of getting to see it - and my little audience would get an earful of "Must Sees."
I'll even tell you if it's a date movie.
So I can't get the artwork, but all that means is I'm not technically proficient.
I'm not sure if I will get to go - based on the timing - but this is still a very cool opportunity.
The synopsis:
"Joss
Whedon, the Oscar® - and Emmy - nominated writer/director responsible
for the worldwide television phenomena of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE, ANGEL and
FIREFLY, now applies his trademark compassion and wit to a small band
of galactic outcasts 500 years in the future in his feature film
directorial debut, Serenity. The film centers around Captain Malcolm
Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil
war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and
transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small,
eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family
–squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal."
