Paul DeBettignies Gets the Big Scoop on Northwest
Northwest Airlines has been in a financial funk, fighting with trade unions and working to maintain its operations in the face of negative press.
Paul DeBettignies scoops the Northwest Story and posts the results of the new cost-saving measures proposed by Northwest to help its employees, learn to live with less.
Much of the list reads like a comedic routine, but somehow, this was tabbed as an actual message sent to Northwestern employeers through an outsourced HR function.
46. Don’t be shy about pulling something you like out of the trash.
47. Recycle.
48. Move to a less expensive place to live.
When you take something out of the trash, in the immortal worlds of Jerry Seinfeld, "You've crossed the line from man to bum."
Look, the list is well-intentioned, but can could it be more insensitive? If you live in someplace expensive, move? What kind of advice is that? Move where? A cardboard box is less expensive than a house, and less upkeep, too. Is that where you should move?
The big question, is how much Northwest Airlines spent to get this message created and sent out. Good catch, Paul.
