UPDATE**: Boy am I ever redfaced. Jason Goldberg e-mailed me to let me know that of course he checked with David Manaster before posting his challenge. And David Manaster left a comment saying, of course Jason Goldberg contacted me before posting his challenge. In my ignorance, I managed to insult both Jason and David by suggesting they didn't know what they were doing. There is no excuse. My apologies to the both of you, and I look forward to the next time I stick my foot in my mouth and have to be corrected.
It's unfortunate that I'm going to miss the big event in San Diego. Franki and I scheduled our flights to arrive Wednesday mid-day, so I won't get to see the Jobster/Cheezhead opening question and answer period.
While I applaud the openness of Jason Goldberg in inviting Joel Cheesman to answer his questions, and while I think it's a pretty good opportunity to clear the air on the salacious gossip we keep seeing online, I do have to wonder.
How does David Manaster feel about Jason's invitation to open the biggest ERExpo to date with a Jobster publicity stunt? Jobster is a sponsor, and Goldberg was invited to speak at the breakfast formally opening the conference, but if I were David, I'd be steaming. A more appropriate invitation would have been some kind of after hours meeting or perhaps an invitation to Joel to meet in Seattle, or perhaps on neutral ground.
And that's all that I have to say about that.
