Koppen Group Welcomes Kevin Wheeler
Well, I've had the pleasure of listening to two of Kevin Wheeler's speeches this month, and both got thumbs up. If you have the opportunity, Professor Wheeler gives an informative and thought-provoking address on the the future of recruiting trends, and his answers to questions on how to use social networks and blog to actively recruit are 100% spot on.
Now when was the last time you heard me praise a columnist like that? Seriously - Kevin gives a good speech, and I imagine his management consulting services at Global Learning Resources are much in demand.
They certainly are for the Koppen Group, who invited Kevin to St Louis to speak to staff, clients, and friends as part of their rebranding efforts. The Koppen Group is an executive search firm run by Kristen Koppen, a 14 year practice she built in Clayton.
I met Kristin at the ERExpo, and thought her enthusiasm for recruiting was contagious. Little did I know.
The Koppen Group is doing what every staffing firm should do - they are turning their business into a reason to celebrate and to learn. I was so impressed with what they pulled off this afternoon, in part because it was clearly an attempt to reach into the future, but also because it was social networking on a local level. Kristin and her team invited their clients, their friends, their spouses, and little old me to the event, just to improve the quality of information that recruiters possess.
Many firms throw parties, but this was an attempt to educate, at the firm's expense, the very people who turn to the Koppen Group for assistance. Imagine if you will, a company like Teksystems hiring a corporate trainer to improve the sourcing skills of Anheuser-Busch HR recruiters. That's basically what the Koppen Group did.
And that's speaks of courage. That speaks of partnership. Those clients learned something new, and they know that Kristin's team was interested enough in their success to bring Kevin Wheeler into give a presentation on recruiting trends.
I would like to see more of that from the recruiting companies in St Louis. I certainly expect it to pay off for the Koppen Group.
