Chess in Rome

During our first anniversary trip to Rome, Franki shopped on the Via Del Corso, and I played Chess with several old men that had been playing at a particular cafe just west of the Piazza Navona.

This particular man beat me three times in a row - but he had been playing for many years.  I spoke no Italian, and he spoke little English, but the proprietor told me the man had been there over sixty years.  He had been playing as a young lad when the Allies had bombed Rome.

The one thing I really wish for St Louis would be if a group of men could gather in the park next to my house to play chess.  Now that would be cool.

Day 16: Home at Last, Home at Last

Don't bother us.  We're home sleeping, finally.

Day 14 and Day 15: Barcelona

Beautiful Barcelona.  Everything has been beautiful - but we're back in Barcelona for two days, and we leave the ship on Sunday.

Franki wants to see a bullfight.  Ole!

Day 13: Nice and Monte Carlo

Nice during the day.  (it's pronounced Niece)

Day 12: Florence

We're in Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance.

Franki convinces a local sculptor to create a sculpture of what I would look like with curly hair on a cold day.

Day 11: Classical Rome

We're in Rome.  Franki is thanking her lucky stars she married me at this point.

She tries to convince me to fight a bear and a lion in the Colisseum, but the Romans make animal rights noises about me wearing a loincloth made from leather.

Day 10: Napoli and Pompeii

The Beautiful Amalfi Coast and Volcanic Pompeii.

Day 9: At Sea

Somewhere, beyond the sea, somewhere waiting for me.
My lover stands on golden sand..and watches the ships, as they go sailing.

We're married!  We're married!  We're married!

Heading from Greece to Italy!

Day 8: Santorini Wedding

Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands in the world.  White limestone buildings and crystal blue seas. 

So nice we have a second picture.  We're married in Santorini at 6:00 p.m. local time, at the Chapel of St Irene!

Day 7: Classical Athens

Home to the Classical World's finest antiques - the Acropolis awaits!

Day 6: At Sea

Formal Dining, Exploring the Ship, Dancing and incredible Ocean Views on the schedule today.

Day 5: Lovely Dubrovnick, Croatia

We had no idea how lovely this place was.  The seaside resort.

Day 3 and 4: Romantic Venice

Ah, Romantic Venice.  We're staying on the Grand Canal before boarding the ship, and  then we have a day in Venice with the Cruise Lines.

Day 2: Barcelona in Route

We're in Madrid on route to Barcelona.  From there, we grab a flight to Venice where we stay the night

Day 1: Chicago

We flew into Chicago and are seeing Sean and Tracy before the flight takes off to Spain!

Going to the Chapel

Franki are off getting married in Greece on a wonderful European Cruise.

Each day a post will appear of our destination.
